The STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibility Course module, also known as STCW PSSR, is instructed in compliance with STCW Code A—VI/1-4. This course lasts 1/2 day. This is one of the four required modules in the STCW Basic Safety Training (BST) Course.
Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (PSSR)
In the half-day STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibility Course module, you will learn about conducting yourself professionally. This industry is based on protocol, prevention, and propriety, and you have to behave accordingly.
The course covers such topics as working relationships onboard, health and hygiene, drugs and alcohol, shipboard-management structure and responsibilities, and safe working practices. It’s really common-sense stuff.
This theory-only STCW course is followed by a written exam.
