Many of the yacht crew training schools also offer crew placement services for students who have completed their courses. The benefit of yacht crew placement services being offered through the training schools is that the agents there have a great opportunity to get to know candidates. Do not underestimate the degree to which administrators and instructors can assist you with job leads.
Some examples of training school placement programs for crew are Bluewater Yachting in Antibes and Palma, and both Crew Pacific and Superyacht Crew Academy (their agency being SuperCrew) in Australia.
International Crew Training in Fort Lauderdale is another training school that has an in-house recruitment and placement division, CREW.ICT. Registration is possible for anyone going through ICT’s courses.
And while many of the other schools don’t have officially named crew placement divisions, a lot of them can also assist with helping you get your first job. For example, Maritime Professional Training (MPT), a training school also located in Fort Lauderdale, has a Student Services Staff and career counselors to help its students land a job after training.
Some advice: Demonstrate your enthusiasm and eagerness to learn while taking your training courses, and it will no doubt pay off—the word will get out about you. Just remember that this word-of-mouth phenomenon can have the opposite effect as well, so give it your all when the eyes are on you.
